Gum disease, known as periodontal disease is a condition which causes inflammation of the soft tissues around the tooth and potentially the jawbone in advance conditions. There are several types of periodontal diseases including chronic periodontitis, aggressive periodontitis, necrotizing periodontitis all which requires different treatments. Early treatment is critical, if left untreated it can destroy the connective tissue and the jawbone. There are several surgical and nonsurgical treatments which include scaling and root planning, tissue regeneration and pocket elimination surgery.
